Meet Our Affiliate Coordinator
Brandy Tolbert has been a pillar of the Columbus community for over a decade, currently serving as the Executive Director of Literacy Alliance. In addition to Literacy Alliance, as of July 2025, she is furthering her involvement with East Carver Heights by serving as Path to Shine, Inc. - Columbus Affiliate Director! Already having two children, a part of Boxwood Soccer, her appointment to the position is a testament to her dedication not only to our organization but to our community as well.
PATH TO SHINE SPOTLIGHT
When Thomas first joined Path to Shine, his potential for academic success shined brightly. However, he faced more than a few challenges in public school.
Last year, Path to Shine helped cover his tuition for the distinguished Emanuel Preparatory School of Math and Science. The school’s unique approach focuses not only on academics but also on the social and emotional development of young men.
At Emanuel Preparatory, Thomas is thriving in an environment that nurtures his growth as a whole. By dedicating its mission solely to the education of boys of all ages and levels, the school creates learning experiences that foster critical thinking and confidence.
Their approach includes non-traditional classrooms, hands-on and project-based learning, freedom of choice, and structured guidance from strong role models.
We are incredibly proud of Thomas and deeply grateful to Emanuel Preparatory for providing a space where he can truly excel.

PATH TO SHINE®

At Path To Shine®, we inspire children to achieve hope-filled dreams by educating and encouraging them through free mentoring, tutoring, and life enrichment while motivating people who can make a difference in a child's life. We need hundreds of programs in Georgia to impact the 500,000+ children who need them the most. In August 2010, there was one program, and since then, we have grown to 17 programs, with one located in Columbus, GA.
Path to Shine Columbus, GA is a non-profit organization that provides academic and personal support to underprivileged children in Columbus, GA. The program's goal is to help children develop a lifelong love of learning and acquire the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.At the Path To Shine - Columbus GA , we have devoted volunteers who work one-on-one with students to provide tutoring and mentoring services, while community partners provide resources, such as books, school supplies, and donations to get out to help students succeed.
